 | Barcelona World Race 2010 Starts: 31.12.10 Phil aims to step up to the IMOCA Open 60 Class, the premier class of offshore sailing, with an entry in this year's Barcelona Wolrd Race, the only non-stop double-handed race round the world. Competitors must race a total of 27,000 miles over 3 months across the planet’s most hostile and challenging oceans, whilst pushing their 60ft boats of pioneering technology to the limit. |
  | Figaro Transat AG2R 2008 The Figaro class' double-handed transatlantic where Phil demonstrated his technical ability in offshore sailing's most competive class by climbing to 4th by two-thirds race distance. Unfortunately the race was not meant to be, as a light high pressure system engulfed them towards the end, ending their chances of a top finsh. | | Route Du Rhum 2006 Phil entered a chartered Class 40 in the most prestigous of the solo transatlantics which started from St Malo in November and finished in Guadeloupe, Caribbean. Phil claimed an incredible victory out of 27 boats, the largest class in the race, becoming the first Brit to win the race since Dame Ellen MacArthur. | | Mini Fastnet 2006 Phil teamed up with Andraz Mihelin for the biggest of the Mini 650 qualifying races, attracting 100 boats. Plagued by very light winds throughout the race, the two made a great comeback towards the end of the race to steal 3rd place only metres before the line, and a well earned podium finish. | | Mini Transat 2005 Following qualification races from 2004-05, Phil lined up for his first transatlantic race: single-handed, 4,300 miles from France to Brazil, in a 21ft high-speed ocean skiff. After taking misleading weather routing advice and falling to 58th, Phil made an unprecedented recovery to finish 4th, the second best British result in the 30-year history of the race. |
